Facilitating Questioning and Discussion Techniques with ELLs

In this workshop, participants will discuss the benefits and challenges of developing ELLs ability to ask and answer questions and understand research behind the benefits of classroom discourse.

Guided Reading Instruction for ELLs: Assessment, Design and Delivery
1/11/19, 12:30 - 3:30 PM, Southern Westchester BOCES

In this half-day workshop, we will discuss how Guided Reading instruction relates to the specific needs of ELLs. 

Administration of the NYSESLAT - Training & Review 
2/20/19, 8:30 - 11:30 AM, Orange-Ulster BOCES

This half-day training session is intended for those new to NYSESLAT administration, as well as for those who are already familiar with administration of the annual "NYS English as a Second Language Achievement Test" (NYSESLAT) and want a “refresher”.

Next Generation Standards, NYSESLAT Skills and ELL Instruction

In this half-day workshop, participants will examine parts of the Next Generation Standards to understand how they relate to NYSESLAT Performance Level Descriptions, Targets of Measurement, and the New Language Arts Progressions.

SUNY New Paltz is gearing up for another year of their Clinically Rich-Intensive Teacher Institute (CR-ITI). This is a program that is sponsored by NYSED and allows teachers to become certified to teach English Language Learners within the public school classroom.
