2026 Voices United Conference - NYS Portrait of a Graduate: Framing the Future Through Multilingualism

Tuesday, December 1, 2026, 9:00-3:30 PM, The Empire State Plaza Convention Center, 100 S. Mall Arterial, Albany, New York

This is a free professional learning event for educators and administrators working in New York State educational institutions. This year’s theme highlights how multilingualism serves as a cornerstone for the NYS Portrait of a Graduate.

2026-2027 Spanish Spelling Bee

• The Office of Bilingual Education and World Languages (OBEWL) and Staff/Curriculum Development Network (SCDN) Collaborative will be hosting a statewide Spanish Spelling Bee for NYS public school students in grades 4 through 8.

• The Statewide Spanish Spelling Bee will consist of local, regional, and an in-person Statewide Championship Event to be held in Albany in June 2027.

• Districts intending to participate must complete the Spanish Spelling Bee Registration form no later than October 30, 2026. All districts that indicate their interest in participating will be invited to an orientation session in late October. 

• Questions about the NYS Spanish Spelling Bee may be directed to the OBEWL/SCDN Collaborative at nyspanishspellingbee@gmail.com.
