Summer 2025 Workshops on Checkpoint B Assessment Guidance: NYSED OBEWL will once again sponsor a two-day, in-person workshop in each of nine regions in New York State to support NYS world language educators to understand and apply the Principles and Guidelines for Adopting or Creating Locally Developed Benchmark Assessments for Checkpoint B (Modern Languages other than ASL). All workshops will run from 9:00-2:00 PM with a one-hour lunch on your own. Participants must commit to attending both days in full. 8 hours of CTLE credit are offered. Click here to register.

Immigration and Education in Turbulent Times (Virtual CTLE Course)

This virtual module will focus on best practices for supporting students of immigrant origin in elementary classrooms. We will learn how to identify possible trauma indicators in our learning communities, explore trauma-informed pedagogical practices, and come up with plans to support students and their families. Educators will earn a total of fifteen (15) CTLE credits upon successful completion of the module. The course includes an additional 6.5 hours of asynchronous group and independent work.
