Self-Guided HV RBERN Workshops

Experience RBERN workshops at your own pace and earn CTLE certificates when it's convenient for you!

Reminder . . . closing on August 15th!

The HV RBERN is running a free, month-long virtual professional learning camp to support educators as they continue to build capacity in meeting the needs of ELLs in their schools and classrooms. Our camp features multiple workshops on ELL-related topics; participants will select workshops that best meet their needs.

Successful completion of individual workshops will result in CTLE credits; credits per workshop will vary; and will be delivered through a digital certificate. Each workshop activity will generate its own CTLE certificate, which will be emailed directly to participants upon 80% correct completion of its culminating quiz. FRONTLINE (MLP) REGISTRATION IS NOT REQUIRED.

The world of technology for educators is always changing with new and exciting tools.

This virtual presentation will introduce K-12 educators to various websites, tools, and apps that can be used by ENL teachers to enhance instruction.

Upon completion of this workshop, participants will understand and be able to integrate the learned technology into lessons and curriculum to enhance ELL communication and translation, accessibility, interactivity, and engagement.

Educators teaching English Language Learners have the responsibility to ensure access to the most effective and appropriate learning environment.

When an ELL student is struggling academically, educators need to understand the multiple and complex factors affecting a student's learning. Student behaviors observed may appear similar to characteristics of a disability and educators need to carefully rule out all factors that are not intrinsic to the individual. It is critical to distinguish if language acquisition, cultural and linguistic diversity, gaps in learning or an actual disorder is at play. A multidisciplinary team must investigate, paying special attention to contexts and rule out systemic or external issues, and exclusionary factors prior to making a referral.
