Information Sessions: Diploma Requirements and LOTE Courses

The Office of Bilingual Education and World Languages (OBEWL) of the New York State Education Department (NYSED) will hold a webinar, available in six different time slots, to explain how the June 2021 Exemptions from Diploma Requirements apply to Languages Other Than English (LOTE) courses.

This informative session will explain in plain language the guidance issued from NYSED in March regarding the June/August 2021 exemptions as they relate to LOTE and the Seal of Biliteracy. Participants will be able to speak directly with an OBEWL staff member and/or submit their questions via chat. While the session will not be recorded, a PDF of the presentation will be made available to all attendees and will be posted on the OBEWL website following the final session.

The NYS Office of State Assessment released this memo regarding the administration for the Spring 2021 NYSESLAT. Also, the 2021 NYSESLAT School Administrator’s Manual is now available.

Secondary ELL Connection Thursday - 4/8/21

The HV RBERN is pleased to have the Institute for Disaster Mental Health (IDMH) at SUNY New Paltz join this week's Secondary ELL Connection Thursday.

The mission of the Institute for Disaster Mental Health (IDMH) at SUNY New Paltz is to ensure that all those impacted by disaster and trauma have access to the mental health support they need. To accomplish this goal, IDMH provides leadership in the field of disaster mental health and trauma response through training, research, consultation, and service.
