CNR TESOL Certification Program

The College of New Rochelle is sponsoring a NYS-subsidized Tuition Grant Program: Clinically Rich-Intensive Teacher Institute (CR-ITI). This is a program that is mostly-funded by NYSED and allows teachers to become certified to teach English Language Learners within the public school classroom.

There is an Information Session on Thursday, January 31st at 4:00 PM at Dutchess BOCES, 5 BOCES Road, Salt Point Center Building, Room 137, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. Please view the flyer here for more information.

The Changing Suburbs Institute is looking for more workshop presenters for its April 12, 2019 Hispanic Parent Leadership Conference on Special Education. This annual conference, conducted in Spanish, aims to provide information for Hispanic parents on how to best support their children. They are looking for workshops on topics similar to those listed below, from past conferences, but also welcome new ideas and suggestions:

  • Understanding Regulations, Rights, Classifications and Documentation

  • Evaluations: Differences between Medical, Psychological, Educational and Other Evaluations

  • Understanding Your Role as a Parent and CSE Member

  • How to Advocate for Your Child

  • Parenting for Positive Relationship Building

  • Social, Emotional and Physical Health Support for Children and Parents

  • Planning for Your Child’s Life after High School

NYSED recently released a memo titled "Clarification on the Criteria for Earning the New York State Seal of Biliteracy (NYSSB)" which explains a change to the NYS Seal of Bilteracy requirements and the NYSESLAT. Please read it here for additional information.
