This workshop will combine direct and indirect instructional practices that have been identified in research as effective for building student vocabulary in any content area. Participants will engage in learning why vocabulary development is critical, how to identify key vocabulary from your content and how to teach vocabulary using a variety of instructional routines. Students benefit from a consistent approach to vocabulary instruction, as part of your instructional routines, focusing on activities that foster listening, speaking, reading and writing in English.

Hudson Valley RBE-RN Update

Greetings!

Due to high demand, we are offering another session of "Planning for Instruction Using NYSESLAT Data" at Sullivan County BOCES on Tuesday, February 27th, 2018. Participants will analyze NYSESLAT modality data to purposefully target instruction across NYSESLAT proficiency levels. This workshop is intended for all teachers who work with ELLs and who utilize NYSESLAT data. Register in MLP here.

Furthermore, you may be interested in the recently released NYSED Guidance Document for Determining ELL/MLL Status of Supports for Students with DisabilitiesThis guidance document regarding Commissioner's Regulations Part 154.3 establishes criteria for whether a student with a disability is administered the NYSITELL (starts on p 1), provides details about the Language Proficiency Team (LPT) (pp 5-6) and criteria for exiting ELL/MLL students and ELL/MLL students with a disability from of ELL/MLL status (p 18).
