Making the Portrait Accessible: How the Six Attributes Show Up for English Language Learners - at Rockland BOCES

  • Rockland BOCES 65 Parrott Road West Nyack, NY, 10994 United States (map)

As schools across New York State align instruction with the Portrait of a Graduate, ensuring equitable opportunities for Multilingual and English Language Learners (ELLs) is paramount. This interactive session explores how the six core attributes of the Portrait manifest within linguistically diverse learning environments.

Participants will examine practical scaffolding strategies, culturally responsive approaches, and actionable frameworks that help ELLs develop and demonstrate complex competencies-such as critical thinking, effective communication, and collaborative problem-solving-alongside language acquisition.

Participants should bring a device to access workshop materials.
