This workshop is designed to provide an overview of the determination of English language proficiency (ELP) or ELL status for a student with an Individualized Education Program (IEP) who newly enrolls or re-enters a NYS public school; including preschool students with an IEP entering Kindergarten. The purpose and role of the Language Proficiency Team (LPT) members will be addressed, including key factors they should consider when recommending whether or not a potential ELL with an IEP should or should not take the NYSITELL.
