This workshop provides educators with a foundational understanding of the intersection of special education regulations and English Language Learner (ELL) services within the context of New York State's Commissioners' Regulations Part 154 and Part 200. The workshop will provide:
A review of the legal and regulatory requirements to apply a straightforward process for identifying when an ELL has a disability
Understand the ELL Identification: Policies, procedures, and best practices, including the purpose and the role of the Language Proficiency Team process
Provide insight into how to develop an appropriate IEP with relevant information to identify effective services, accommodations and goals through general and special education programs
Participants should bring a device to access workshop materials.
