A Tale of Two Regulations: Special Education and Part 154 - at Sullivan BOCES

This workshop provides educators with a foundational understanding of the intersection of special education and English Language Learner (ELL) services within the context of New York State's Commissioners' Regulations Part 154 and Part 200:

  • Understand Legal Requirements: Gain insights into relevant laws and regulations, the ELL Identification: Policies, procedures, and best practices.

  • Considerations for providing effective delivery of services through general and special education programs.

  • Leverage Student Strengths and Identify Student Needs: Accommodations to provide access and build on students' existing skills.

  • Developing an IEP that captures the strengths, skills, and resources that students possess when they come into our district.

Participants should bring a device to access workshop materials.
