During this workshop educators will enrich their teaching methods and establish inclusivity within their classrooms for English Language Learners/Multilingual Students (ELLs/MLs):
Educators will dive into the district's ELLs/MLs data to gain insights into diverse backgrounds, cultures, and forthcoming linguistic proficiencies of ELLs/MLs in the classrooms.
Educators will gain understanding of language acquisition and proficiency levels and discuss tailoring supports for ELLs/MLs at their current levels of English mastery.
Educators will immerse themselves in innovative instructional strategies - from scaffolding techniques constructing pathways to knowledge, to nurturing language-rich environments. Educators will learn to craft assessments aligned precisely with language proficiency levels.
Pre-K through Grade 5 teachers: 1.5 hours (10:30-12:00 PM)
MS/HS Science and Social Studies teachers: 1.5 hours (8:00-9:30 AM and 9:30-11:00 AM)
Participants should bring a device to access workshop materials.
