(POSTPONED) Next Generation Instruction and ELLs/MLLs: Advanced Literacy in Linguistically Diverse Classrooms - at Sullivan BOCES

  • Sullivan BOCES 6 Wierk Avenue Liberty, NY, 12754 United States (map)

What is Advanced Literacy, and how does it relate to ELL/MLL learner success? In this workshop, participants will take a deep dive into the Advanced Literacy Briefs on Linguistically Diverse Learners and the New York State Next Generation Learning Standards, provided to NYS by Nonie K. Lesaux, PhD & Emily Phillips Galloway, Ed.D. This workshop will define and explore the skills and competencies that enable the achievement of linguistically diverse students in literacy while allowing participants to evaluate current structures for the existence of Advanced Literacy Hallmarks, using a tool developed to gauge effectiveness of Curriculum, Materials and Instruction.

*NOTE: In an effort to move toward environmental consciousness, please be aware that this is a PAPERLESS workshop. In order to access the presentation materials, participants should bring a device of their choosing (i.e. laptop, tablet, Chromebook). If this is an issue for you, please contact us at rbern@swboces.org so we can make accommodations.
